Top 5 things to do after you get engaged!

He asked, you said yes!
Now what?!
Here are the top 5 things to do after you get engaged...
1. Let it sink in.
Love on him (or her) and show gratitude! After all this engagement is about your marriage, not getting the most likes in your Instagram ring selfie. Hug, kiss, and SAVOR THE MOMENT!
2. Call all of the important people.
Your parents, his parents, your brother, sister, dog, nanny from 5th grade, and of course soon-to-be bridesmaids. DON'T make them find out through social media. Even if that means waiting a few days to post your engagement. Because trust me, Aunt Tracy from Texas will be P-Oed if she sees it on Facebook before getting a phone call.
3. Set a date.
When setting a date think about timing. The more time you give yourself, the more time you have to plan and save up money. If you're wanting a summer wedding, give people plenty of time to plan their vacations around it. Back to school is also not the best time, especially for families with kids. Have several dates picked, venues get booked fast so you might need to be flexible. Weekdays are usually cheaper, but also harder for loved ones to miss work.
4. Set a budget.
Weddings can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want. Set a REALISTIC budget. Keep the vendors in mind. Pricing varies, but so does the quality. Reputable vendors make their living off of their services. Which means they will go above and beyond, but they come with a reasonable price.
5. Get your ducks in a row.
Stay organized. Stay on top of the planning, and to do so (of course) we recommend hiring an experienced planner. The average bride will want all the bells and whistles, as expected! It is easy to get in over your head, especially when dealing with multiple vendors. Hiring an experience planner allows you to enjoy not only your wedding day but your engagement as well. Trust me, you'll need someone there that will be like a second version of you. Someone that will make sure the event staff set up correctly, your décor all goes up, and that the food arrives on time. You won't have the time to do that on the day of your wedding.
So lets get to it! Now that you have (assumingly) done all five things you can post that ever-so-lovely engagement ring selfie!
Happy Planning!
xoxo
